Media Center Vision and Philosophy

In today's world where information availability grows so rapidly, a strong school library media program is essential to assisting its users gain information literacy skills -- the ability to access, evaluate, and use information. These skills create a foundation for lifelong learning. The library media center serves as the information hub of the school, providing a dynamic, technology-rich environment with a variety of information resources to meet the diverse needs of the learning community. The school library media specialist focuses on teaching information literacy skills incorporated into the curriculum in collaboration with teachers to support the school’s goals. This gives students the opportunity to engage in authentic, meaningful, inquiry-based learning opportunities, enhancing the overall learning experience. Moreover, the media specialist promotes a love of reading and effective use of technology to further support lifelong learning.

Media Center Mission Statement

The mission of the library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information, creating a foundation for lifelong learning.
