Instructional Technology: School Library Media
Autobiography
I was born in Manila, Philippines, and my family moved to Roselle, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago) when I was five years-old.
I had the extra challenge of having to learn English as I entered Kindergarten.
I enjoyed school and was actively involved in extra-curricular activities.
I then attended Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where I received a Bachelor's degree in Economics, with a minor in Psychology and a certificate in Markets & Management.
I had also taken Computer Science classes, which sparked my interest in technology.
For the first five years after college, I worked in the Information Technology field in web development, project management, and consulting roles.
After staying at home to raise my daughter for the last four years, I am excited to enter a new chapter in my life, becoming a School Library Media Specialist.
I have had successful teaching experiences in college, as an Economics tutor and Computer Science teaching assistant.
They were extremely rewarding experiences, as I was able to help others and see them learn and apply new skills.
I have also enjoyed working with children through volunteer positions.
Going through the Master's program in Instructional Technology at UGA has solidified my interest and expanded my knowledge in School Library Media.
I would love the opportunity to bring the total of my past experiences into Education.
Working with students, inspiring them to learn and to actively process information would be extremely rewarding, and I look forward to the challenge!
